High precision 3D localizer

Initially the Flashpoint(tm) 3D localizer was used during surgical intervention to precisely guide the surgeon gesture during tumor sampling. It uses infrared light and cameras to compute an acute 3D localization of a point.

The complete position of the acquisition device (6 degrees of freedom) can be automatically recorded into a volume of approximately one cubic meter with a precision of .1mm in each direction. A secondary reference tool (not shown) is used to allow larger acquisition volume.

This tool is used to acquire, point per point, the geometry of intricate objects such as sculpture as illustrated bellow.
