Project description

Measurement of airways wall thickness is particularly important to characterize chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. An automatic method to estimate the wall thickness of a bronchus, identified interactively by the user in computed tomography data, has been developped. The local axis of the bronchus and its perpendicular plane are determined. Measurements are effected radially from the center of the bronchus, in the perpendicular plane. This work is made in collaboration with the Department of Radiology of ULB Erasme Hospital.
